Gene and Finny's classmate, Leper is gentle, calm and nature-loving from Vermount. Not popular but very observant. He wants to be Gene's friend but never really trully establishes a firm bond with him. Leper was the first from Gene's class to enlist but is soon driven mad and he breaks down.
